The Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation in Ajman will begin a comprehensive building classification project across the emirate from July 1st, 2024.

This three-month initiative is designed to assess the compliance of buildings and real estate facilities with international standards and regulations. A team of qualified professionals will conduct on-site inspections and assessments as part of the classification process. The department will develop an electronic program to publish the findings transparently.
Director General Omar Al Muhairi has confirmed that the department is prepared to classify buildings according to international standards and specifications.[?]

Real estate plays a crucial role in the emirate’s economy, with a significant increase in commercial property investments this year, and the classification system needs to uphold the quality of services and assist investors in making informed decisions when it comes to renting or purchasing properties in Ajman. Al Muhairi stressed that the new system will make it easier for everyone involved in the real estate market in Ajman to trust the process.

In May 2024, the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation in Ajman completed 169 real estate valuation processes totaling over AED 729.5 million. Director of Real Estate Registration Ahmed Khalfan Al Shamsi highlighted that the valuation encompassed commercial, residential, industrial, and agricultural properties, with commercial properties leading the way at AED 437.2 million, marking a 197 percent increase from April 2024. Industrial properties followed with a total value of AED 148.45 million.

The specific details regarding the criteria and rating systems for building classifications have not been disclosed yet.
